5TONIC and IMDEA Networks Institute are proud to announce that the multinational telecommunications company CommScope has joined 5TONIC, the first laboratory of 5G excellence in Spain. Founded last autumn by experts from Telefónica and the research institute IMDEA Networks, 5TONIC exists as an open ecosystem for innovation and research based in Madrid, which also counts with Intel and Ericsson Spain amongst its members.
As of 2020, 5G networks shall operate with a view to provide impetus for the age of “all-connected”
5TONIC and IMDEA Networks Institute are proud to announce that the American multinational technology company INTEL has become a member of 5TONIC, the first laboratory of 5G excellence launched in Spain, founded by experts from Telefónica and IMDEA Networks with the purpose of creating an open ecosystem for innovation and investigation. 5TONIC was launched in autumn 2015 and in addition to the recent inclusion of INTEL, the laboratory also includes important members such as Ericsson Spain.
5TONIC and IMDEA Networks Institute announce that the students from the Master and Specialist degrees in NFV and SDN have initiated their laboratory training in the newly inaugurated 5TONIC laboratory located at IMDEA Networks’ headquarters in Leganés, Madrid. 5TONIC is a Research and Innovation Laboratory focusing on 5G Technologies founded by Telefónica and IMDEA Networks, and counting on the prestigious membership of Ericsson Spain.
On Friday 6th of November 2015 IMDEA Materials, one of the seven IMDEA Institutes, opened its doors for the 1st IMDEA Conference: Science, Business & Society. The event was opened by the President of the Community of Madrid (Comunidad de Madrid), Cristina Cifuentes, and by the Spanish Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&I), Carmen Vela.
The Ericsson Madrid Innovation Roadshow 2015 included Dr. Arturo Azcorra and Dr. Albert Banchs, Director and Deputy Director at IMDEA Networks Institute, respectively, among other important industrial and academic participants.
