Arturo Azcorra, the vice-president of the 5TONIC Research and Innovation Laboratory in Madrid, has been spreading the word internationally about the benefits and opportunities created by 5G mobile networks.

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) and Ericsson have launched a Master’s in NFV and SDN technologies for 5G networks. This program, which will be taught at the UC3M Madrid-Puerta de Toledo campus and the Ericsson Auditorium in Madrid, is the product of a long-standing collaboration between both entities in the area of education and research.

With current wireless data networks in the "fourth generation" or 4G, key players in the ICT sector are already paving the way for 5G wireless data networks and beyond technologies. At Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this week we are witnessing examples of how current investment into this next generation networks has spread across research initiatives worldwide.
