European 5G

Professor Arturo Azcorra, Chairman of the Expert Advisory Group of the NetWorld2020 European Technology Platform and Vice chairman of the 5TONIC Lab, has been invited by the European Commission (EC) to join a European 5G scientific delegation to Brazil. Experts from both sides of the ocean meet this week to discuss the present and approaching future of 5G, the ultrafast mobile broadband technology that promises to become the most remarkable communications phenomenon of the decade.

Arturo Azcorra, Director of IMDEA Networks Institute and Full Professor at University Carlos III of Madrid, was interviewed yesterday by the radio station Cadena SER MADRID SUR 94.4 FM. In this radio interview Dr. Azcorra explains the meaning and implications of 5G technology for our everyday lives, and its expected social and economic impact.

5TONIC and IMDEA Networks Institute are pleased to announce that University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M) has joined 5TONIC, the first laboratory of 5G excellence in Spain. Founded last autumn by experts from Telefonica and the research institute IMDEA Networks, 5TONIC exists as an open ecosystem for innovation and research based in Madrid, which also counts with Intel, Ericsson Spain and CommScope amongst its members.

 

Open Source MANO

The 5TONIC laboratory has successfully hosted the first OSM Mid-Release meeting of the ETSI Open Source MANO (OSM) group.

5TONIC and IMDEA Networks Institute are proud to announce that the multinational telecommunications company CommScope has joined 5TONIC, the first laboratory of 5G excellence in Spain. Founded last autumn by experts from Telefónica and the research institute IMDEA Networks, 5TONIC exists as an open ecosystem for innovation and research based in Madrid, which also counts with Intel and Ericsson Spain amongst its members.

5TONIC and IMDEA Networks Institute are proud to announce that the American multinational technology company INTEL has become a member of 5TONIC, the first laboratory of 5G excellence launched in Spain, founded by experts from Telefónica and IMDEA Networks with the purpose of creating an open ecosystem for innovation and investigation. 5TONIC was launched in autumn 2015 and in addition to the recent inclusion of INTEL, the laboratory also includes important members such as Ericsson Spain.
